Husband has a DWI on his record.

Sister has nasty divorce from State Trooper that Gov. Creationism seems to have gotten fired illegally.

Daughter, unmarried at 17, is five months pregnant, a child which had to have been conceived WHILE SHE WAS LIVING IN THE GOVERNOR'S MANSION.

It's the "Appeal to the White Trash" strategy: "She's one of us! Vote Republican!"

I'm not sure why you assume all "white trash" are conservatives.

Classism at it's finest...god I hate liberals.

Sincerely,

white trash anarchist

Oh, so sorry.

Didn't mean to make a sweeping generalization about White Trash LIKE YOU JUST DID about Liberals.

(Hypocrite, much?)

Besides, to actually address your insight while ignoring your pose, you'll have to admit that the vast majority of the so-called White Trash class votes Republican. To do otherwise is to simply deny reality to serve your agenda... oh, wait, that's the Republican Credo!

"LIKE YOU JUST DID about Liberals"

Really what sweeping generalization did I make? That I hate them? I hate fascists too does that me a hypocrite as well or is ok to hate them? My opinion about a political stance is not a generalization about people it's a statement of my opinion of a political stance. I know some liberals are swell people, I still hate their politics.

White trash, however, is a derogatory term for poor white people. One I've heard both Republicans and Democrats use to describe any group of poor whites who must obviously be stupid and otherwise socially inept simply because they didn't do what those in power wanted them to do.

That's the difference. Some how I doubt if someone said oh no wonder the Dems wanted Obama, that will secure the black vote because they'll say "Oh look he's one of us" you would have been fine with it. In fact I'm guessig you would have rightfully called it on the bull shit racism that such a sentiment is.

"you'll have to admit that the vast majority of the so-called White Trash class votes Republican"

No I won't. The vast majority of white trash that I grew up with voted and continue to vote Democrat, though god only knows why since you clearly don't give a shit about them.

"To do otherwise is to simply deny reality to serve your agenda... oh, wait, that's the Republican Credo!"

Seriously as long as you're claiming to be grounded in reality cite me a stastic that says "most white trash vote republican."

I dare you, since we both know no study called "voting trends among white trash" has ever happened.

Thanks for your ill informed classist and most importantly self righteous outburst. Right out of the liberal playbook and another classic example of why I hate liberals. Thanks for playing.

Self-righteous outburst?

Yes, your little essay was.

Ignoring your ad hominem attack on me (the usual defense of the debater that's run out of valid points), I'm going to address your "argument," at least the points that are relevant.

One, classism is certainly alive and well. The elite label that's been applied to those who favor human rights and social justice is class-warfare, plain and simple. And you're right about the "White Trash" label being classist as well. It just so happens to be the label that the media has chosen to represent that subset of the body politic. Sad but true. Would you prefer "Bubba," which is what they labeled it when Clinton was President?

Two, while your personal experience may have found anecdotally that some of this lower-income-and-education group votes Democratic, the huge swath of the South that voted Democratic from FDR through Johnson has firmly and I fear permanently moved into the Republican fold. The Red State swath is no longer the home of the Blue Dog Democrat, it is the home of the Bible-Thumping Republican.

Third, the very thought of applying a label, oh, I don't know, I'll pull one out at random, apropos of nothing, say for instance "Liberal," and saying that you hate THEM, is by every measure a generalization and an attack on a group. Therefore, you DID hypocritically apply a sweeping generalization and I called you on it, as you called me on my own sweeping generalization.

Fourth, the have been numerous studies of voting behavior in the demographic we're discussing, contrary to your uninformed "did not, did too" argument, which found all sorts of interesting things like the "Gantt Effect," where voters in North Carolina lied outright to pollsters about their voting intentions because they didn't want to admit that they wouldn't vote for an African-American candidate. Other studies have found that since the overwhelming majority of military volunteers comes from this demographic, that the blind jingoistic "Criticism is un-American" patriotism so ably embodied by the Bush Regime is supported largely by this group, leading them to vote Republican, the party the panders to the ugliest of human xenophobia. Anti-Immigration, anti-Affirmative Action, anti-Women, anti-Religious Plurality... the worst kind of Ugly Americanism.

Next time you want to throw your "anarchist" weight behind an argument, you might take a second to consider that your right to espouse such an unusual position is supported by the very "liberals" that you claim to hate. The Republicans are the ones who have worked so very hard to stifle free speech, free assembly and the right of free association. King George has added signing statements to over 500 laws saying that he doesn't have to obey them. While I am hardly an Obama fan, at least his background as a Constitutional Law professor has led him to announce that he will examine and remove every single illegal and unconstitutional executive order that Shrub has signed. The expectation is that every single signing statement and most executive orders will be immediately rescinded.

If the liberals are so hateful to you, then you must be completely consumed with loathing for the party of fascism and totalitarianism that is what King George's Grand Old Party has become.

So by all means hate us liberals if you must, but abhor the Fascists with every fiber of your being. Save that venom for the true enemy, the Republican Party.
