MySpace profiles do not have to be ugly.

Still not 100% sure on the headline fonts, but I'm pleased... and this is a preview of the future of my LiveJournal style.

Well, it's readable, which is a giant leap up from most myspace profiles. With the greater flexibility of LJ, the design will look decent, although I think your current has a better feel- I like the fade-out on the camo, and don't like image backgrounds that fill most of the area unless they're real subtle (like a white-grey pinstripe).

I'm afraid that ALL MySpace profiles are ugly.

They say MySpace on them.

You do know who owns it, right? I personally will not use a product that will be aiding and abetting FOX NEWS to hear and putting me and all my friends on a list Rupert Murdoch has control over.

I made a lame myspace before Mur-dick bought it off. I only just got rid of it yesterday since I could not remember the password. Some idiots had written me. Nothing was interesting or personal. Get off MySpace! If you want a site that does the same thing it does and doesn't SUCK and is not run by creepy neocons try tribe.net. (Please.)

PS: JUST because it's free does not mean you don't support them by being on it. You bring your friends there, increase the ad impressions...

I'm a firm believer that any tool can be useful (and MySpace actually has been for me, enough to not junk it outright). I appreciate where you're coming from, though... I probably dislike Murdock and News Corp as much as you do. I've come to the conclusion that the only meaningful way I can really fully boycott Big Bad Media would be to move into a shack in Wyoming, and I have far too much to do here first.

I also use Tribe, and wish it were more useful.

This is probably the best explanation of the MySpace asthetic (and before that, GeoCities, and before that &hellip). It also has a very amusing song in it.

I'm wondering how you got the masthead pic to appear. I see where it is in your css, but what tag does that attach to?

I have to plug my friend's MySpace, because he makes really incredibly awesome profiles that often incorporate his art and photography. The one he has up right now is not my favorite, but it's still pretty snazzy:
