I was just thinking there this morning how this is remarkably similar to Burning Man attire ;-) here the goggles, there the gasmask... its not only nifty, but functional :P
you were the aussie whose 'everything' was lost at the airport in cali. i was there at your camp on friday during the E cuddle puddle til sun-up. you were quiet.... but i guess as you were a virgin burner....you were mayhaps just a tad enthralled? *shrug*
at any rate//// nice for the moments chatting. see you next year?
Ahhh the cuddle puddle. Fond memories ;-). Yes, virgin burner, close enough the former in another department as well for at least 3 years, and blissfully unaware of the way such piles work in terms of allowing/trust etc. Oh well. Next year will no doubt see such minor issues taken care of :P.
Definitely coming to the Burn in 2007 and contributing/collaborating as much as I can from afar in graphics, art etc. I've been looking around LJ for weeks trying to find everyone I met there and adding them to my friends-list. Anyhow, yeah see you at the burn next year. What better way is there to spend at least a tenth of your paycheck each year, than partying and networking in the middle of a desert for just over a week??
Long story how we got that costume, but someone had made two of them for Burning Man 2000 and had worn them there and ran around and yelled at people. I guess he didn't think he'd use one again, so he gave it away. The costume is *awesome*. And of course, it will be at BM for next year.
The long story is encapsulated in this post of mine.
The thing is really well made. I hope Fox will take some close up photos of the inside of it so people can see just how cool it is. You can see through the eyes because there's a mesh covering them, and there's some holes for venting and peripheral vision. It's made of a straw hat inside so it's really sturdy and comfortable holding it's shape, etc. I am super super impressed with the quality of work on the costume.
It turns out it was originally made by icarus88. And it will certainly make its way to the playa, and I might just be persuaded to loan it out for a bit to certain Canadian people. ;)
I like him. We just picked up his new book last week. Book as Art, Art as thought revolution, revolution as interdimensional gateway, interdimensional gateway as words in an interconnected library (with footnotes as an alternate route through time)... etc.. Or something like that...
