I'm most interested in how Wal-Mart will answer the "but you let the CHINESE unionize" questions they'll inevitably get. I don't think that your explanation (however valid) would fly coming out of Bentonsville's PR flacks' mouths.
Yeah, Chinese unions are just an arm of the profit-oriented government. I'm pretty sure this will be easy enough for Wal-Mart to spin. Just pointing out that the unions are government-sponsored or whatever. "We'll be happy to support American union membership when American unions become more cooperative with the government and more accepting of economic realities," or something. Bleah.
