Here's a shot from The Kimberly Trip's 80's show back in January in Sacramento, with a video of the same song they're playing live being played in Guitar Hero. There are many, many more photos from this show.

Hey [livejournal.com profile] darkmoon, want to expound on the TKT Guitar Hero hacks, as I am not too knowledgeable on the subject?

A friend of mine made the video for us; I know that to do the hacks the way he does, you need one of the old PS/2s that allow for adding a hard drive, with a hard drive installed. There is some other necessary bit of hardware required, and some other hacking to be done, but I don't remember those details, since I haven't tried to do this myself.

He actually started by making a playable version of Insignificant Other (video here). He'd asked me if it was okay for him to make one of our tracks into a GH custom, to which the response was a resounding, "Hell yes!" and Jeffry gleefully providing the separate tracks for him to use. After seeing the video around the time that I realized I could actually afford a projector for our live shows, Jeffry decided he wanted to get a GH video done for a song we might actually play live.

I don't remember why he decided Suck Knob would be the best option, but that's what he picked. Tracks were once again provided to the friend of mine making the custom tracks, and the video was completed just in time for our Halloween show.

The version of Suck Knob wasn't actually fully playable by the time the video was made (I don't know whether he ever actually finished making the playable copy), but he had it working well enough to make a video of it for us. We then replaced the sound in his video with our sequencing track for the song.

As an interesting footnote to this, I got to play his build of Insignificant Other back in November, and actually did slightly better playing the guitar part than the bass line. Go figure.

The only reason I thought of "Suck Knob" was because it somehow seemed to fit the 'spirit' of the song. Something like "Once in a While" just didn't resonate with me. Kind of like how the "Geek. Grrl." video has nothing to do with the song, but somehow just seemed to work.

There are some youtube videos up that show how you do it as well as gaming sites like Joystiq, gearfuse and a bunch of other forums.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsJFrsbsIjc is a pretty decent video and lists all you'll need to actually complete the process . it specifies you need a mod chip swap magic or slide tool and the related videos list the many other videos of now to do it as wel

Just do a quick search for it and you'll be linked to a dozen so sites all with how do it on slims, big ps2s and xb360's (which i'll probalby do on my own 360 soonish)
